Is Pista A Nut Or A Fruit?
Feb 18, 2022
Pista that you relish in sweets and chocolates is actually a seed of small fruits from Pistachio vera tree, native to Western Asia and the Middle East. During Spring season, the trees have clusters of green drupes, fleshy fruits containing seed. These fruits harden and turn red. Inside the fruit lie the green and purple seed. The shell hardens once the fruit ripens. Though they are considered nuts, botanically they are the seeds of a drupe.
